We celebrate the diversity of our pupils, families, staff and wider community and are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all. We work to identify and remove barriers, challenge discrimination and ensure that our school is welcoming and accessible to everyone.
Our commitment to equality and accessibility is reflected in our curriculum, policies, everyday practice and the support we provide for individual children and families.

Shirehampton Primary School is committed to meeting its responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty.

We aim to ensure that equality is embedded throughout school life rather than treated as a separate activity.
This includes our curriculum, teaching, behaviour and relationships, SEND provision, accessibility, recruitment, policies, school events and the opportunities available to our pupils.
The Public Sector Equality Duty requires schools to demonstrate how they meet these three aims.
How We Promote Equality
We promote equality and inclusion in many different ways across our school.

We use information available to us to identify inequalities or barriers and consider what action may be needed to address them.
Equality Information
We review information about our school community, pupil outcomes, attendance, participation, behaviour and other aspects of school life to help us understand the experiences of different groups and identify any potential inequalities.
This information informs our school improvement work, policies, provision and Equality Objectives.
When publishing equality information, we carefully consider the privacy of pupils, families and staff and will not publish information where individuals could be identified.
Our Equality Objectives
Our Equality Objectives identify areas where we want to make a particular difference. They are informed by our understanding of our school community and are reviewed as part of our wider school improvement work.
We monitor progress towards our objectives and publish new objectives at least every four years.

Accessibility at Shirehampton
We are committed to ensuring that disabled pupils can participate fully in school life and have access to the same opportunities as their peers.
We continually consider how we can identify and remove barriers to access and participation. This includes considering individual needs and making reasonable adjustments where appropriate.
Our accessibility planning focuses on three key areas:
Access to the Curriculum
Increasing opportunities for disabled pupils to participate fully in the curriculum and wider life of the school.
The Physical Environment
Improving the school environment so that disabled pupils can access the facilities, services and opportunities available.
Access to Information
Improving the way information is provided so that it is accessible to disabled pupils and, where appropriate, their families.
Those are the three areas the statutory Accessibility Plan needs to address, so I would definitely retain them.
